COLE BAY–A 23-year old man from Jamaica was arrested in the early morning of Saturday, November 2 after a man was shot twice at Mariana Estate.

Police and paramedics attended the victim’s home address at around 4:15am. The 25-year-old victim was taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center with two gunshot wounds: one to his lower right arm and one to his abdomen. The victim stated that he had been shot by a man from Jamaica, who is known to him.

The victim’s injuries were so severe that he had to be flown out to the Dominican Republic for further treatment.

The police closed off the crime scene and the Forensics department carried out an investigation. Upon arresting the suspect, the police found three other undocumented Jamaicans. All three were arrested and handed over to the Immigration Department.

The police investigation is ongoing and the police are appealing to any members of the public who have witnessed anything suspicious or may have more information about the case to come forward.gun
