GENDARMES AND CUSTOMS CONTROLS 2 BOATS, 45 PEOPLE WERE ALSO STOPPED BY THE AUTHORITIES

Gendarmes and Customs officers controlled twelve boats and 45 persons during a joint operation conducted in St. Barths on December 22 and in St. Martin on December 23. An additional brigade of Gendarmes from St. Barths and a sniffer dog team were employed in the controls. No drugs were found, but Customs officers issued two unspecified fines. This was the third joint control this year ordered by the Préfet and conducted by the Gendarmerie and Customs as part of a mobilisation against delinquency.

Deyanida “Clarisa” Faneyte (20)St. Maarten Vocational Training School. Dies From Gunshot wounds at Louis Constant Fleming Hospital French St Martin

A woman died at Louis Constant Fleming Hospital in Marigot on Tuesday morning after being shot, the Gendarmerie confirmed. Captain Sylvain Jouault said that in the interest of the investigation he had been instructed by the St. Martin Prosecutor not to give any further information.

The woman is believed to be a citizen of the Dominican Republic who was living in Dutch Quarter in a social housing development called “The Projects” and was known locally as Deyanida “Clarisa” Faneyte (20), who was believed to be a former student of St. Maarten Vocational Training School.

A local source said she had been shot multiple times and that the shots, which hit her as she was sitting in a car, had allegedly been aimed at her boyfriend. The source also stated that the boyfriend allegedly had connections in the drugs trade and that he too was injured in the shooting.

The shooting reportedly took place in Dutch Quarter. The boyfriend drove his car across the border to French St. Martin and abandoned it near an area called Round the Pond in French Quarter, from where another vehicle took him and Deyanida to the hospital in Marigot. The boyfriend is now said to be in the custody of the French police.

St. Maarten police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson stated that he had been given very little information, but that detectives were in Dutch Quarter to investigate a possible shooting.

WOMAN ARRESTED IN SUCKER GARDEN FOR STABBING OTHER WOMAN

 

A woman was apprehended and arrested for the stabbing of another female on Tuesday the 25th of February 2014.

People arrived at Cactus Drive in Sucker Garden at around 3:00 pm to investigate the incident. The victim G.A., 22 years old was reportedly uncooperative with the police.

She stated that her and her attacked had a heated argument, and that it got out of hand. After the incident, the attacker M.G. jumped into a white vehicle being driven by a male and fled the scene, heading in the direction of Dutch Quarter.

M.G. was tracked down at a location closed to Afoo Supermarket. She was arrested, and then taken into police custody for questioning.
